Dermal Fillers

What Are Dermal Fillers

Face and lip fillers (dermal fillers) are substances injected into your face. They fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks. Fillers are not permanent. How long they last depends on things like the type of filler and where it's injected. They usually last between 6 and 18 months.

Which Dermal Filler Is Right For You

Not every filler is right for every type of wrinkle, so choosing the right one gives best results and least risks, this is why having a consultation with our Doctor is so important.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are the most popular with rare side effects (redness, swelling and bruising). Research shows that repeated hyaluronic injections may help stimulate the body’s own production of collagen, reducing the lines and thereby requiring less filler in the future.

Muscle relaxing injections are administered using a tiny needle with an injection of toxin. The toxin helps to soften the action of several muscles in the face, thereby reducing signs of lines and wrinkles.

How Dermal Fillers Work

The product is injected with a fine needle under the surface of the skin. For deeper lines and folds, it is injected to a slightly deeper level of the skin. The results are instant. Normally a single treatment is enough but patients can come back in two weeks if they require some more product.

Dermal Fillers contain something called Lidocaine which is a form of anaesthetic to numb the area that is being treated and make it more comfortable for the patient.

FAQs

Please find answers to the most common questions below.

What's the difference between Muscle relaxing Injections and Fillers?

Muscle relaxing injections and fillers are two types of injectables, which are both injected with a needle. The biggest difference between them is that muscle relaxing injections are used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralysing the underlying muscles, fillers on the other hand will fill in wrinkles.

How long does dermal filler take to settle?

With dermal filler injections, you are looking at waiting 14 days at most for the filler to settle. Even better, you can address several aesthetic concerns in a mere hour while it can take two to three hours to address one aesthetic concern with an invasive cosmetic procedure.

How long does Muscle Relaxing Injections take to settle?

It can take two to four days before the weakening of the muscle begins and movement is stalled. You can see the maximum results of your treatment anywhere from ten to fourteen days after treatment. The best part is that maximum results can be seen up to three months after your treatment.

What to expect after dermal fillers?

Common effects from filler include bruising, swelling, redness, or tenderness around the injection site, all of which will resolve after a few days to a week. It is recommended to allot a full week for recovery before attending any big event after filler.

How do you maintain dermal fillers?

Stay Hydrated. Hydration not only keeps wrinkles at bay, but helps maintain your injections.Practice Good Skin Care.Avoid UV Exposure. Eat Right.Take Extra Zinc and Stay Stress-Free.

How often do you need to top up dermal fillers?

In general, however, you should expect to return every four to six months. While some people will want more frequent treatments, perhaps not wishing to let their lines or wrinkles fully return before seeking further treatment, others may be able to leave seven or even nine months between treatments.

What not to do after having dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers “fill in” static wrinkles (those that are visible when your face is at rest), such as nasolabial folds and vertical lip lines. Fillers can also restore lost volume and increase collagen production to smooth and rejuvenate dull, dehydrated skin. Though dermal fillers are extremely safe, you should avoid the following activities following your filler treatments.

- Don’t get a facial, massage or microdermabrasion

- Don’t wear goggles or eyewear that puts pressure on the treated areas

- Don’t suntan

"My lips has shrunk and become very thin over the years, so for my birthday, I treated myself to dermal filler treatment with Dr. Peel at Beautology. The treatment itself was slightly uncomfortable but I am really pleased with the effect."
