With age, many people begin to develop small flaps of skin over their bodies called skin tags. Labelled in the medical community as cutaneous papilloma or acrochordon, these tiny growths are not malignant, but they can be very bothersome. This is because they usually develop on parts of the body where the skin or clothing causes friction (i.e. under breasts, in armpits, on the neck, across the chest, and throughout the groin). They are thought to be unattractive and are easily irritated, so many people choose to have them removed.

A specialist can remove skin tags in one of two ways, both procedures are relatively painless, and once gone, skin tags do not grow back.

The skin tag treatments involve cauterizing, the medical term for electrically burning the base of the skin tag to close the blood supply to the growth. This procedure is well suited to treating small or large skin tags because it accelerates healing with minimal pain and damage to the skin and offers immediate results, the growth just drops off over a few days.

Electrolysis involves inserting tiny, surgical probe into the area affected, with this in place, a tiny impulse of energy is transmitted down to cauterise and kill the concern (Read more)

Lasers and IPL are intense beams of light that can transfer its energy through the skin to a specific part of the body or face. The strength and the frequency of the light used differs depending on the type of tissue it must target which enables laser and IPL to achieve results that are simply not possible with other technologies (Read more).
