A life without eye bags or dark circles
If eye bags or dark circles are getting you down, then Beautology's treatment range could be just what you are looking for!
As the years pass certain changes occur in the eye area, there is an increase in size of the bony orbit and orbital fat, as well as a reduction in the ability of the body to keep fat away from the lower lid and around the eye and puffiness results in the lower eyelid area giving a tired, sick, old and sometimes drunk appearance.
Dark circles under the eyes are a common problem and can have a variety of causes. Often described as 'tired eyes' they can affect both men and women of all ages.
What are the causes of eye bags and dark circles?
Dark circles and eye bags can be caused by issues of the skin, such as:- Volume loss of volume or the dropping of fat in the cheeks or under eye, laxity of the lower eyelid,
thinning of the skin under the eye, bulging of fat under the eye as well as resulting from our lifestyle.
Lifestyle habits can influence the extent of eye bags and dark circles such as: - smoking, sun worshiping, consumption of caffeine and alcohol, dehydration, poor diet and dehydration all have a part to play in the creation of eye bags and dark circles.
Are there any health-related causes of eye bags and dark circles?
There are a number of health-related causes such as: melasma, allergies, nasal congestion, medical conditions (such as eczema, thyroid problems, etc.), venous congestion in under eye blood vessels and heredity(Check out your parents!).
Depending on whether the problem is minor or temporary, various things can be done to help prevent eye bags and dark circles, such as:
Get enough rest and sleep.
Gently apply a black tea bag or cold compress to the area which can reduce blood vessel dilation.
Protect the skin against with large hats and sunglasses.
Elevate the head slightly during sleep preventing fluids building up.
Quit smoking.
Prevent blood vessel dilation with nasal decongestants.
Skin Lightening Peels
Professional skin lightening creams which contain bleaching properties may be recommended where the dark circles are caused by melasma and sun damage (eg. hydroquinone, kojic acid, Vitamins C and K, green tea, and licorice). Over the counter creams do not contain sufficient 'active ingredients' to have any significant effect or improvement to the skin.
Skin Resurfacing For Under Eye Dark Circles:
Skin resurfacing through skin peels may be the ideal solution to reduce dark circles. This can have the effect of increasing the production of collagen, thereby reducing pigmentation.
Injectable Hyaluronic Acid Facial Filler Treatments For Dark Circles:
Temporary injectable fillers (9-12 months) containing hyaluronic acid can be used for dark circles which are created due to thinning eye skin or fat and tissue loss in the under eyes or upper cheeks.
Understanding the causes of these pigmentation concerns can help you take proactive steps in maintaining healthier and clearer skin.
